Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, who participated in ITB Berlin, the world's largest tourism fair held for the 49th time this year, visited the TRNC, Near East University Stand.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, Cyprus, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, who participated in the ITB Berlin Fair, which brings together 189 countries and is recognized as the largest organization in the field of tourism, visited the TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus), NEU Hospital Stand.

In the statement, it was noted that Minister Çavuşoğlu, who visited the Northern Cyprus Stand with the Turkish Ambassador to Berlin Hüseyin Avni Karslıoğlu and the accompanying delegation, was welcomed by TRNC Berlin Representative, Ambassador Mustafa Kemal Gökeri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports Şahap Aşıkoğlu, General Manager of NEU Tourism Enterprises and Hospital Board Member Ahmet Savaşan and received information about the country's tourism.

During his visit to the Northern Cyprus stand, Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized the importance of alternative tourism types such as golf and health for the country's tourism and drew attention to the need to include these tourism types and visuals at the stand.

Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu also expressed his pleasure to see NEU Hospital promoting the health tourism and tourist health opportunities of Northern Cyprus at ITB and said: “Suat Hodja provides important services to his country. Greetings to Suat Hodja from here,” he said.

In the statement, it was emphasized that with the agreements made by NEU Hospital with NTL Travel, DMG Cyprus and Puzzle Travel, the leading tour operators of Northern Cyprus, at ITB Berlin, the health of tourists to be brought to our country in 2015 from many countries including Germany, France, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia and Iran was secured.

Emin Çakmak, President of the World Healthcare Tourism Council - GHTC (Global Healthcare Travel Council), also visited the NEU Hospital stand within the scope of the fair. It was stated that Çakmak and Savaşan came together and determined the road map on the steps to be taken to bring Northern Cyprus to the place it deserves with its location, the quality healthcare services it offers, especially at NEU Hospital, and its touristic features.

In his speech during the visit, Çakmak said that their support for TRNC will continue to increase and that they will take bigger steps to improve the existing cooperation and added: “We will take the initiative on international platforms to promote the health tourism potential of Northern Cyprus and to be preferred by more patients.”.

Emphasizing that cooperation with Turkey should be increased in order to further develop tourism in Northern Cyprus and create the added value longed for in the country, Ahmet Savaşan said that in recent years, our country's tourism has developed visibly compared to the past with the incentives given by the Turkish Republic to transportation, the great risks taken by tourists and the initiative undertaken by NEU Hospital on tourist health.

Stating that Turkey participated in the ITB Berlin fair, also known as the World Tourism Exchange, with the largest country stand of 3 thousand m2, Ahmet Savaşan pointed out that both ministries and non-governmental organizations should cooperate more closely with Turkey, which manages to attract the world's attention more and more every day with its representation in international fairs, the variety of products it offers and the activities it organizes, and receives the share it deserves at this rate.

Savaşan said, “To the extent that our cooperation with Turkey is improved, tourism in Northern Cyprus will develop in parallel with Turkey.”.
